Keep Your Prescription Up To Date

At Rye Eye Care, our thorough eye exams encompass a variety of tests and procedures aimed at assessing your eye health and vision quality. These assessments range from straightforward tasks like reading an eye chart to more intricate examinations using advanced equipment to evaluate the condition of the internal eye structures.

Our dedicated eye care professionals recommend an annual comprehensive eye exam as a vital part of your eye health journey. These regular check-ups serve a dual purpose: first, they help us identify and manage potential eye conditions that could harm your vision. Second, they allow us to stay vigilant and responsive to any visual acuity changes and update your prescription accordingly. Your eye health is our top priority; we're here to provide the care and expertise you deserve.

Eye Exams For the Whole Family

The American Optometric Association advises an annual eye exam for everyone, whether you wear eyeglasses or contact lenses or have no vision correction needs. Regular eye exams are essential for the whole family, as they can detect early signs of diabetes, high blood pressure, and other health conditions affecting vision. Particularly for patients with or at risk of diabetes, frequent diabetic eye exams are vital. Ensure your family's eye health and overall well-being with yearly check-ups at our clinic.

Kids' Eye Exams

At Rye Eye Care, we're dedicated to safeguarding the vision of our youngest patients. Research suggests that many preschoolers and school-aged children encounter vision issues. According to the American Optometric Association (AOA), beginning eye examinations early in a child's life is crucial.

The AOA recommends eye exams at six months, again at age three, and once more when starting school. For children without vision problems or risk factors, annual eye exams throughout their school years are advised. Children with existing vision issues or risk factors require more frequent examinations.

Common risk factors include premature birth, developmental delays, family history of eye disease, and a history of eye injuries or other physical illnesses. If your child wears eyeglasses or contact lenses, the AOA recommends eye exams at least every 12 months or as per your eye doctor's guidance.

Eye Exams for Adults and Seniors

At Rye Eye Care, we believe in prioritizing your eye health at every stage of life. The American Optometric Association (AOA) advises annual eye exams for adults who wear eyeglasses or contact lenses, emphasizing that even if you don't require vision correction, regular eye exams are still essential.

For those with conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or other health disorders, doctors often recommend more frequent eye examinations due to the potential impact of these diseases on vision and eye health.

As we age, our eyes require extra care. If you’re over 40, it’s advisable to have your eyes examined every one to two years to monitor common age-related concerns like presbyopia, cataracts, and macular degeneration. For those aged 60 and above, annual eye exams are crucial in managing the increased risk of eye disease associated with advancing age.
